If yoy have 80% of enemy lords captured you got them by the balls and offering releases for peace should at least be a option. Or heads roll, and if they do roll others should know what happens in similar situations.
The heroes.xml file you are after is in your bannerlord install folder under Mount & Blade II Bannerlord\Modules\SandBox\ModuleData. Open the file with notepad (I prefer notepad++). Youll see a bunch of entries that look something like this:
My char died of sickness at age 50. But in my game I have seem natural causes happening to NPCs before 50. 1. Nerwesta. OP ⢠3 yr. ago. Yeah I've read some topics on their forum, some users pointed that the earliest NPCs can die by natural causes is around 45, seems very rare but it does. 4. Nerwesta. OP ⢠3 yr. ago.

You just have to look at the stats of your fief and do the math. The garrison troops will provide you more clan strength points since you can manually put at least tier 4 troops into the garrison. In Bannerlord, tier 4 and higher troops provide more clan strength points than tier 3 and below. This is only important when you are a vassal.
You can find them in the party tab and discard them like regular troops after you fire them, so that what I did. In theory, you can kit them out, fire them, then keep them as good soldiers lol. Seems like companions are much better combatants than most regular soldiers, and they can be dripped out (if planned for previous to firing).
If I am right, you character can die from age and when that happens, you will continue playing as your child, bud I'm not 100% sure about that, but I think I read it somewhere. what he fuck, they didn't say anything about that, stfu with those lies. #3.
